The landing beaches

Their respective code names have made them world famous: UTAH, OMAHA, GOLD, JUNO and SWORD . The films "The Longest Day" and "Private Ryan" paid them a magnificent tribute.

Preceded by thousands of paratroopers during the night, tens of thousands of men trod the sands of Normandy in the early morning of June 6, 1944.

History buffs can visit the highlights of this tragic and heroic period: Sainte-Mère Eglise and its famous bell tower, bloody Omaha overlooked by the American cemetery in Colleville-Saint-Laurent, Arromanches, Courseulles, Bénouville and “Pegasus Bridge”.

If you wish to have a general historical view, you can opt for the Memorial of Caen.
