The city of Caen

45 minutes away by the A13 motorway, the capital of Bas-Normande is the place to be for history lovers. Countless curiosities await you: The Peace Memorial, the castle of William the Conqueror (you will discover the Fine Arts Museum, the Normandy Museum, the Saint-Georges Church and the simple garden), the Abbaye aux Hommes hosting the burial place of Guillaume de Normandie and Abbaye aux Dames. You will be spoiled for choice.

Also take the time to stroll through the streets of the city. Caen is a city where life is good. Stop for a few moments at a Café terrace to chat for 5 minutes with a group of students from the School of Arts and Media.

And before returning to Clos Deauville St-Gatien, drop by (barely 15 minutes by car) for a stop at the "Café Gondrée", the first house liberated in France on June 6, 44.
